Delaware launches Personal Data Privacy Portal

Florida Governor Vetoes Cybersecurity Data Breach Immunity Bill: 4 Things Businesses Can Do to Prevent Data Breach Claims

To the surprise of some, Governor DeSantis recently vetoed a bill that would have provided businesses with a defense to claims arising from “cybersecurity incidents” that lead to data breaches – so long as they met a few critical obligations. According to a June 26 letter from the Governor accompanying his veto, he believed the bill would have resulted in Floridians’ data being less secure because it would have provided for “across-the-board protections for only substantially complying with the cybersecurity standards.”

CFPB Takes Action Against Fifth Third for Wrongfully Triggering Auto Repossessions and Opening Fake Bank Accounts

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) today took action against repeat offender Fifth Third Bank for a range of illegal activities that would result in the bank paying $20 million in penalties in addition to paying redress to approximately 35,000 harmed consumers, including about 1,000 who had their cars repossessed.
